Aneastetic Guidelines for Rural Hospitals - Paediatric Anaestesia

Abstract


Many of the general rules about anaesthesia that have been discussed in earlier chapters apply to children as well as to adults, and this chapter should be read in con-
junction with previous chapters. A separate chapter on paediatric anaesthesia is however necessary because children have a number of anatomical and physiological characteristics that are different from adults. These peculiarities make the potential for a serious anaesthetic accident much, much higher in babies and children.
